About The Event
Join us as we glean mangos in Lantana!
**PLEASE NOTE: Mangoes are a member of the poison ivy family. Those who are allergic will develop contact dermatitis if exposed to the sap. We recommend that those who are allergic not participate in the gleaning.
Volunteers pick the produce from grower's fields that is left over after the commercial harvest. The recovered produce is then given free of charge to the Palm Beach County Food Bank for distribution. Hundreds of thousands of pounds of produce are recovered each year to feed our hungry neighbors. We can put fresh produce on their plates with just one morning of serving!
All supplies for gleaning will be provided. CLOSED TOE SHOES ARE REQUIRED. It's recommended you wear long pants, and bring sunblock & bug spray if desired. Gloves are provided, but if you have a favorite pair at home bring them along. Volunteers must be able to lift 25 pounds. Volunteers must be 13 years or older.
The exact farm we'll be gleaning at will be given to us the Tuesday or Wednesday prior to the event, and an email with info to volunteers will follow shortly after.
See you in the fields!
