Sweet Corn Gleaning
Time & Location
About The Event
Gleaning season is back! Join us as we glean sweet corn in Belle Glade!
Volunteers pick the produce from grower's fields that is left over after the commercial harvest. The recovered produce is then given free of charge to the Palm Beach County Food Bank and other nonprofit organizations for distribution. Hundreds of thousands of pounds of produce are recovered each year to feed our hungry neighbors. We can put fresh produce on their plates with just one morning of serving!
All supplies for gleaning will be provided. CLOSED TOE SHOES ARE REQUIRED. It's recommended you wear long pants, and bring sunblock & bug spray if desired. Latex gloves are provided, but if you have a favorite pair of garden gloves at home bring them along. Volunteers must be able to lift 25 pounds and be a minimum of 13 years old. Ages 13-16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
PLEASE NOTE: The exact location in Belle Glade will be announced the week prior to the event.
See you in the fields!!
*It's VERY important that if you RSVP as attending, you follow through and show up for this event. Organizations count on all volunteers. If you are a no-show for 2 or more events, please be reminded you'll be removed from the group.*
