Vegetable Picking for Palm Beach County Food Bank
Time & Location
About The Event
Volunteers pick the produce from grower's fields that is left over after the commercial harvest. The recovered produce is then given free of charge to the Palm Beach County Food Bank for distribution. Examples of the produce gleaned include: beets, cucumbers, tomatoes, sweet corn, green peppers, potatoes, avocados, mangoes, and whatever else might become available. Hundreds of thousands of pounds of produce are recovered each year to feed our hungry neighbors. You can put fresh produce on their plates with just one morning of serving. Must be able to lift 25 pounds. Must be 13 years or older to volunteer. You can learn more about this effort here: http://crosministries.org/gleaning/
